The latter half of the introductory course in Japanese language. Elementary level of four language skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) will be developed. The course also will introduce cultural aspects of Japan. Mastering of the Japanese syllabic writing system katakana is required. Simple kanji (Chinese characters) will also be introduced.

Second semester course: Extensive oral practice of basic structures, cultural aspects, and vocabulary most often used in conversation. Designed for students who wish to acquire basic-intermediate skills of spoken Italian.

This class offers an introduction to the roles and core competencies of Community Health Workers (CHW) and assesses students' readiness for the Community Health Worker Certificate Program. Students will learn key public health concepts, models for providing person-centered services, and explore the professional roles that CHWs play in health and social services.
A critical analysis of the public health status of transgender and nonbinary populations. The course will provide introductory knowledge, skills, and resources to work effectively in health and social service settings with transgender and nonbinary clients and communities.
Prepares frontline health and social service workers to provide person-centered services to those at risk for and living with HIV, hepatitis, and other STIs within a public health and social justice framework.
Examination of the causes, consequences, treatments and strategies for health promotion and prevention of major health conditions across the life cycle. Emphasis on health literacy, community resources, behavior change strategies, health equity and advocacy.
